I was living in North Carolina on 09/11/01. My boss gave me the rest of that
week off to go back to Northern Virgina to be with friends. I held my friend
Shannon's hand as we waited by the phone to hear from her brother Joey and his
girlfriend Stacy, who worked at the pentagon. I can understand the pentagon
being a target. I can understand civilians being killed who work for the
military. What I can't understand are the people who cheered for the deaths
of the New Yorkers who died. They weren't military employees. They weren't
even government employees. They were accountants and engineers, just like
people on bat. Lonnie had gotten married that May. His wife was 3 months
pregnant with their first child. I haven't talked to his mother since she
went to their house to get their toothbrushes and hairbrushes to see if their
remains could be identified using DNA. I don't think I want to know if
anything was found or not.
I understand you don't agree with america's foreign policy. But please
understand that not all americans do either. Don't attack me because I live
in a country who's government you hate. As you can see, about 48% of
americans don't agree with Bush either. I just hope it's enough to get Kerry
elected. And please don't tell me you cheered when civilians died. I don't
care what country they were born in, something like that should never be
cheered.
