A small story from Planescape : Torment

An old man realizes he's sitting in a path. The path
is leading both ways, and is surround by forest all around.
Things going through his mind are 'Who am I? what am I doing here. Where am
I?'.
He cannot recall anything.

He looks forward, lifts his head and sees a smiling old lady.

The lady speaks. "And your third wish?"

The man is totally clueless about this. He does not know
who this lady is or what is she talking about.

- "Third wish?", he asks. Not understanding what is happening,

The lady smiles and nods quietly : - "You had two wishes already
fulfilled. Your previous wish was that you wanted that everything
goes back the way it was before the first wish.
Now tell me your third wish."

- The old man is even more puzzled, and as he is completely
unaware of what is even going on, he asks : "Very well, I
want to know who I am, and what am I doing here?"

- "Funny.", chuckles the old lady. "That was your first wish.".
