As for stefan's post about GW being a clown, I agree, as do many americans.
As for Ulver's point (stupid people who give their leaders too much power),
the american population did not give this power to GW. The american
population gave more votes to Al Gore, who I believe isn't the bloodthirsty
monster you say GW is. So the consensus of the population isn't to have a
good old boy in the office, but a weel educated, well experienced politician.
How the system we have currently actually came to be the norm (referring to
electoral college) is not the doing of anyone who is alive today.
Government's themselves can be comparable to living entities, a being that
lives on long after those that created it, such is the case of the US current
system of elections. Can this be changed or fixed or "tuned"? Of course.
WIll it take time, and more tiem, and then more time? Yes. Change in the US
government is a slow process, but it can happen. Hopefully, the upcoming
generations can implement the changes needed to our current system and disband
this "good ol' boys" club we have currently running things and get people who
are in tune with current trends and technologies to step up and lead the way
to a good future for all. As for the war situation, yes war is a part of
life. Everyone knows it. As much as you don't like it, it is still there.
It is a part of reality. Even Finland has armed forces, so Finland realizes
this part and prepares for it. Should we attack Iraq? I don't know, never
been there. Do they have weapons of mass destruction? I dunno, I'm not a UN
inspector. And anyone who blindly makes a blanket statement of "we should go
to war" or "we should not go to war" isn't using their brain. Unless you know
the facts, how can you possibly make any kind of rational statement about it?
