Now this is not a flame at any one person or player in particular, but more of
a concept that sort of bugs me. This mud has alwas been full of shit. Some
of the shit is good shit, and a slightly larger portion of it is stupid shit.
For as long as I have been playing, this has never changed... sure, some of
the shit changed to other shit, but the general rule has been the same. Shit
happens.

That being said, it amazes me that people today are so surprised at castle
raiding. Since I have played, I have had everything I owned stolen from Orion
3 times. Amazingly enough, I AM STILL ALIVE. It sucks, yes, I completely
agree. It sucks so much that I would hate for it to happen again, but what I
cant see at all is people who have been around here about as long as I have
being surprised at their shit being stolen. It has ALWAYS been in the game.
Granted, it has been less common for a few years, but if you really felt it
was gone forever, you are just being stupid.

Now, I appreciated the work Twomi did for the other players in the mud. And I
have sent many thank you's to Ooga and I loved the fact that jessko(?) had
that google map available. But they all got pissed at something that has
always been in the game (whines and or stupid shit), and decided to pull their
work from public use. Fine. Your work, your choice. But to ANYONE else out
there who might take the time and effort to put something together, understand
that this mud has its share of annoying shit that can piss you off. If you
are going to volunteer your work for the use of everyone, then do so,
regardless of the dumb shit that happens to you. It's really a dick thing to
pull it away just because something that has always been around (and probably
funny when it happend to that guy you didn't like) happens to you and makes
you sad. Boo hoo.

Thanks for not listening --Rekcedien

Well, my maps aren't going anywhere...I'm pretty slow at updating them these
days, but will try my best...but I promise that if I flip out, I'll at least
send the stuff to someone else who can host it...

Lets see.. A player has lost his own set of equipment collected over x years
(or so) and the only reply is 'shit happens'.
Well.. You just lost the map the afore mentioned player had made on his own
time without getting any single reward for it.
Can you sense it?
*a dramatical pause for some tension to build up*
Here it comes:
*drum roll*
Shit happens.
*the crowd goes wild!*

You know garth, you are entirely right. And even without the map,
surprisingly my life will continue. Amazing. As for the fact of 'lost eq
collected over x years', the funny thing about it is castle raids are nothing
new. Not in the slightest. There are also measures within the game that
exist to counter the skills and spells that also exist to steal things. In
short, there are ways of protecting your own set of equipment collected over x
years (or so). The point of my post, to clarify, is that no one associated
with this game, from player to coder to administrator, to people who run the
not-for-profit company set up to help back it, really, is rewarded for the
things they make on their own time. Can you sense it? If you choose to make
something that benefits your game play, good for you. If you decide to share
that thing so that others could benefit from it, you sir, are a good person
and a generous one at that. If you EXPECT to recieve some reward for it, you
are a fool, as this entire game, for which you made something for on your own
time without getting any reward for it, exists because others are taking their
own time to make something for you to play. And should you decide that the
generous thing you made (bla bla bla) is not worthy of others because someone
(or someones) decide to play the game, using things withing the game, that you
do not like, you have every right to take it away. Just know that in doing
so, you are basically saying "boohooo, im a sore looser so no one gets to
share my new toy rattle".

Oh noes, some players are grinding exp in my area i took my own time to code,
and not paying any attention to the wonderful writing and detail i put into
it, and this upsets me. I dont want to code anymore so im going to remove all
ive done in the game. boohoo. Same deal... shit happens.

My point: Why contribute something with strings attached. If the admins did
that, we wouldnt have a game to argue this point on. == Rekcedien

Concerning maps, hasn't anyone ever thought about saving the maps on your own
HD for additional shit happens -safety and faster loading times? The maps
really don't change that often and all you have to do is click file -> save as
once in a while and maybe bookmark the local address.

For this kind of static content the amount of whine is unbelieveable. Learn
not to trust your internets.
