From what I've witnessed about people's sensitivity to losing their eq in a
recent incident, a guild that is a straight antithesis to the haven of eternal
eq is an impossible equation. Inability to face inventory loss (especially in
an activity pertaining to martial in which the equipment loss is actually a
rule of thumb), the opening of the thieves' guild would erupt huge flame wars
that could actually bring the whole game down by splitting the userbase into a
fraction one way or another. Perhaps one of the reasons the thieves stay
closed is that the mortals of the BatMUD are not ready for thieves - a point
proven by the recent pcity rob incident.
