Perhaps this isn't really a flame, but allow me a little latitude to BS some
here. After the world tunes a year ago, I got fed up with trying to deal with
all the changes, and decided to leave for awhile (as I suspect a few others
did). Coming back a year later, I see the new world is still here, in all its
glittering, glorious detail, and kudos to the coders for a magnificent feat.

However, I find that much like in real life, in this complicated and
overwhelming world, I find myself reluctant to leave my own doors, in real
life staying safely inside with my computer and TV, and in mud life, idling
(relatively) safely at startloc. In real life I don't want to deal with long
commutes to meet friends and remote locations, and now I find those same
problems have found me in my 'escape' from reality as well.

As much as I commend the intricate and elaborate MUD this world has become, I
mourn the loss of, and dream of the return of the old familiar world I knew so
well.

First of all I'm really sorry to hear you left because of over a years work we
thought would be an improvement to gameplay and a step towards more realistic
exprience (yeah, let's not go there, magic != realism).
But as you know, anything new will become familiar if you just put some effort
to it. So, take a moment to walk around the new and glorious world to get to
know it and you'll be back in business in no time. You'll also find that we've
implemented some aids to make the long distances seem shorter (the 'travel
command for example) and your journeys smoother.
I understand that new things may be scary at first but hey, you'll get used to
those (like I did with dogs, I now have two). Hope to see you back sometime.
