I am questioning the motivation behind the recent tune to wimpy, and to a
lesser extent the tune to word of recall. I cant speak for everyone, but I
know personally, being able to set my wimpy in combat is extremely vital as a
soloer.

First, there is no possibility for me to play with wimpy off. At any moment,
the overseas connection can regularly lag for plenty of time to get me killed.
Combined with the fact that even the smallest monsters can rip off a 600hp
crit, playing with wimpy at least to very low is critical.

However, there are many times that you really need to turn wimpy off in
combat. The monster is near death, there are aggros in every room around you,
and you have 200 hps. You can probably finish this guy, but wimpy ping-pong
means you die. What is wrong with being able to turn wimpy off, in this
situation?

In just about every area on the mud there are one or two rooms with monsters
who block every exit. The only way to escape when the monster is tougher than
you is to turn wimpy up and hope word of recall goes off, and hope you can get
a quick skill off in the meantime. Of course, with the recent tune to word of
recall, you dont have to worry about it going off. It wont. But I dont
understand the tune. Is escaping from death-traps somehow abusing word of
recall? Isnt that what it is for?

Im sure many of you are calling me a whiner, and saying I should just party.
Well, because of RL, I am forced to play for a few mins, idle for a few mins,
play for a few mins, maybe idle for an hour, without warning. Do you want to
party with me? If so, step right up.

So far, the recent tune has already cost me several deaths. I guess I would
like to at least know why. Or at least I would like to get called a whiner by
highbies. Either way.
