How to bring player interaction here? Immediately comes to mind:

1) Allow some degree of looting from dead players. Examples: loot
one random item, drain some exp, drain some stats.
2) Allow stealing from players. Examples: thieves, looting the dead
3) Allow breaking into players' eq stashes. Examples: killable guards,
thieves

(Sure, some of these cannot be implemented in the current world, like
eq-looting. Good eq requires too much time to make atm.)

Would these kind of changes alter the mud environment? Of course.
Overdoing the changes could even break the whole environment.
Would some players be pissed? Of course. That's universal.
Would you be interested in playing it? I know I would.

Hello,

I probably will not reflect the idea of the majority, but now I'm just
speaking for myself. I very much want to increase the PvP elements in BatMUD,
not only by allowing nasty things like legal pkills, kill loots (which we just
got rid of, so that won't get in anyway), and stuff like that, but also I have
other ideas, like make some things which would unavoidably require player
cooperation (other than partying), or player interaction, and such.

A few archwizards might confirm that I was coming up with sane and insane
ideas (mostly insane for now) on how to increase this part of activities.

For now the only thing I can say is that soon enough you will see a new
pkilling system in game which hopefully will add a bit of oil to the flames of
PvP debates. I also plan to make a run on some peaceful PvP activities, if
pkill system will be sort of success.

So I sort of agree with you, however the article which you started very well
IMO ended up with quite simple and (excuse me) lame suggestions :)

I could see how an event similar to the Blood Bath where it is guild vs guild rather than player vs player would be quite exciting.
Those with more than one guild would have to select which guild they want to participate with. Then they would be locked out of the other guilds channels for the duration of the event.
Alternatively there could be just 5 teams that people get randomly allocated too with a special team channel for each team.
I find fighting other players much more exciting than fighting monsters all the time so I would welcome any increased player interaction. Of course there is always the need to fight monsters to build your character but what is the point of building your character so u can just fight even bigger nobrain npc\'s.

This sort of an idea is under development as well. Not exactly as you say, but
close. ;

Woohoo. Great ideas.

I'm totally for people being able to both lose equipment more easily,
and to be able to steal it from others. ;)

Currently, BatMUD is essentially a cooperative game. The playerkilling elements haven\'t really been developed during the years as party system and other things have evolved quite much.

However, I do not think BatMUD should try to be everything - there are other games which are based on player killing and harrassment.

A good example of excellent cooperative capabilities is the merchant guild, where merchants, to make money, must interact with other players and try to sell their services to these people.

Don\'t get me wrong - extra interaction to other guilds too would be welcome but please do not change the system so that player harrassment becomes significant even if you try to avoid it, it will take the base out of the whole game where progression is slow - but steady.

The problem with powerful thieves and castle-looters is that the few players looting have fun and excitement, the most people will suffer and their gameplay experience will suffer too as they can see the results of their work fade away.
