I don't want to belabour the point by reiterating my original points...so I
won't. Instead, I'll comment on the human vs. truck analogy. Mortals in BatMUD
don't usually get to be _that_ much bigger than their competition. I know,
there are those little flies and stuff around, but that's kind of rare. The 1k
monster is probably in the dog or light-armed-civilian area. A more
appropriate analogy might have been a football player (either kind of
football, I don't care) jogging vs. a 5-year-old with a long stick. If that
kid jumps out of the bushes and gets in the right place at the right time, the
football player will end up face-down. Granted, the 5-year-old may find
himself on the wrong end of the Savage Beating Act of 1973, but he will stop
the athlete for a few "rounds."

Now we can argue examples, semantics, and whether rap is music as long as you
want. (It is, deal with it) But in the end, ambush code is a lot like monsters
who block exits. A lot of them are very imporant for quests, and saying "I
shouldn't have to fight you cause I'm too cool for this" won't work. No,
you're not, so shut up and fight already. It's a combat mud, kill the bastards
and move on.
