I had a dream, I don't know how codeable it is, but it seemed like it might be
nice for the game. Spellcasters could hire the greatest of builders to raise
crystalline towers for them, and depending on what kind of material was
incorporated into the structure, the spellcaster would get certain bonuses.
These wouldn't be vanilla eq bonuses, like +spr for diamond, but would be
small, broad enhancements based on factors like time and weather. A sunstone
tower might add to the effect of fire and purification related spells, but
would give far less benefit when the sun is set and the sky is cloudy. Though
primarily for mages, conjurers and runemages, once someone has invested the
energy in a tower, it would still offer lesser benefits to appropriately
themed skills or spells in other guilds. For coding reasons I don't expect
this to come to pass anytime soon even if it's well liked, but the player
socities do provide the prescedent for overworld player objects that give
advantages.
Actually, there has been talk of pcity buildings being made of different
materials and upkept by merchant skills. Some of you remember the skills I am
talking about. Don't hold your breath, but don't be 100% surprised either.
