Recently there has been an increase in hoax emails, luring unsuspecting
persons to "download a patch and run it" from a website which appears
to be affiliated with bat.org. While these scams are not BatMUD specific,
they take the appearance as being sent from random domains, including
bat.org:

Being a server based game, we will never send emails to our players
requiring you to download files or patches - even the batclient auto-
updates itself. We will also not request passwords or other sensitive
information from you via email. If there is any doubt, log on to BatMUD
and check the inform newsposts whether there has been any account
changes or similar.
