The topic of lagbursts has come up from time to time amongst wizards and
mortals. Sometimes there is a very specific cause, like "50 corpse undead in
the death room" or "5 bazillion reagents on the floor and I type 'get all'".
When such problem can be found and addressed, we give it our best shot. You
may have noticed reagent stacks, for example.

One of the causes of some sporatic lagbursts more recently that we've noticed
are players handling hundreds of items, typically mineral pieces, food, or
clothing. Sine these items each have substantial differences from each other,
stacking them would probably not give good results. Now some solutions present
themselves as easier than others. We could, for example, remove any temptation
for players to need to carry a hundred articles of clothing. Or, we could make
it flat-out impossible. I promise that you would not like either solution, and
we'll find a way around that if we can.

But we'll need your help on this.

There are ways to organize your inventory to keep hundreds of different items
out of the same place. Floatings discs are a great place to start, as are the
special storage devices that already exist (mineral boxes, for example). Also,
as of this time, the hardware store now sells simple containers for holding
items. These containes can all be labeled, and while they do't save
(containers generally don't save anyhow) they are dirt cheap. If you know
you're going to handle 400 pieces of food today, use a sack or crate or
something so you don't make the rest of us suffer.

As always, players found deliberately causing lagbursts and not doing anything
about it will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. If you find a sure-fire
way to lag the game, saying "here I'll show you" is not a good idea.
