TL;DR: No more tanking minions, some skill improvements.
The negatives:
A Nergal minion can no longer tank for you. This ability has led to various
tune issues, and it is very doubtful that simply downtuning tank minions would
solve them, so it has to go. The evil_religious background has plenty of
tanking capability to choose from even without this ability, being a hybrid
background after all.
This is a hefty downtune, and as such warrants a free reincarnation for
current Nergal guild members and aspirants. Consult the command 'nergal
freereinc' on how to activate one (*). If you wish to stay, that is ok too.
If you ask nicely, you may even get a free node tree reset.
There is still some chafe from minions and their automatic nature, so things
may get even worse, but we'll see if this is enough of a downtune. The
follow-up tunes probably won't warrant another free reincarnation.
The positives:
The Nergal guild gains more trainable skills (value before tune in brackets):
Dodge 60% (50%)
Parry 60% (50%)
Combat sense 70% (0%)
Discipline 75% (0%)
Stunned maneuvers 40% (0%)
There is some wriggle room for some other skills and improvements in the
future. These skills are here to give the Nergal guild members some
beefiness, as the new role of the guild is more or less hybrid tanking/random
utility from minions.
Overall, this is a downtune for most people, but a much needed one.
The small print:
(*) Only one free reincarnation per member. Available to Nergal guild
members, whose last reincarnation date pre-dates this news post (exact time is
noon, November the 4th). In theory you can build your current reincarnation
into Nergal and get this free reinc, even though you aren't currently a
member.
