Hi all. Bit of a discussion in the guild, and some of us were wondering,
would it be possible for something like a skill called "Harvesting" be made
to allow for the cutting down of plant stalks? Right now there's no way
to do that (lumberjacking, sensibly, does not work). Since when you look
at the plants it clearly says you can cut them down, it seems like this
is a problem... that it was intended for them to be cuttable, and there
is simply no way to do that right now.
Another thing that was bandied about was perhaps a new kind of mine shaft
be makeable that would control water in swamps, to allow for full mining
efficiency. Perhaps it could be dwarf-only, because they're good that
way. In any case, perhaps it should be its own skill (not off carpentry).
As for stalks of vegetation: I am told that this used to be do-able. I'm not
sure when (it must have been years ago) or why, or why it stopped. But since
everything can be alloyed now, I don't see the harm. I'll add this back to the
"lumberjacking" skill at once.
As for mine shafts in swamps, well, if you really explored what options were
available to mortals, I'm sure you'd find an option that helped. The rest is
up to you.
