I've got a crewmember with a space in his name. I've talked to several
other players with the same situation. We could hire the crew with
the space, but now its impossible to train them up, or even fire them to
rehire crew with no spaces. Someone please look into this and come up with
some way to let us promote/fire these crewmembers

for the reason above. If you have crew members from 'back in the day' which
are causing issues, let me know and I can fix them on a case-by-case basis.
