I have 90% shipbuilding skill, so not max but pretty high. I don't know
if it's a check against module shipbuilding % required vs my
shipbuilding skill, or something uniform for every shipbuilder, but
most of the modules I've been installing I cannot get away for more
than 2-4 minutes at most without having to revisit that damn shipyard
and 'continue' work again. It's not much fun, basically it's just
forced idle time. For instance right now I'm building a teleporter.
90% skill required, and I have 90% skill. I can't even get away for
one heartbeat of that system (where they would work one time without
me), and it "drops below the skill required blah blah". That's not
enough for me to get out of the shipyard, find a tree I want to cut
and get back there. So it's basically forced idling, which is pretty
lame. If the "how often you gotta be there" code could be relaxed,
even a little bit, it would be a huge improvement in my opinion.

I wouldn't necessarily consider it forced idling per-se. If you'd read the
documents and the skill helps you'll know that this skill itself isn't really
actually building the ship as much as it is supervising the building of the
ship. And yes, building a teleportation chamber has a lot of magical
components and is very difficult...thus you must be present otherwise those
retarded day-laborers hired to build that ship are going to f*$& it up.
Oftentimes, if you find yourself bored in there, plan ahead and bring
something else to do...like a bench and materials for gem cutting, reagent
making, or something else that could eat up a lot of time. Think like a
merchant and use that time to your advantage.

From a game system, I was under the impression that the mechanism for the
system is that your percent shipbuilding decays over time while away. So, if
you have things you need to do which require 90%, and you leave, it will at
some point drop to 89% effective, and pause. If this is the case, then you'll
probably be well-served to either train a few extra %, or get some items that
give a bonus...
