I am sure many of you have noticed in the last week that I have started
my yearly Help the Newbie push. In the past I have always had a contest of
sorts to help out that years newbies in an attempt to help keep a fresh
gamebase of players. Tho many start this game and stop playing, a few usually
beat the odds and stay around to become long lived players.
This year due to my health I decided I would make a special attempt to
help as many newbies into the game as possible. It costs alot of time, gold in
the game, and a ton of prodding and spam to convince enough of the newbie
population to get to at least level 15 to be able to enter the contest.
This year I expanded my outlook in an attempt to check the game playing
population's opinion of giving back to the game in a sense by looking in their
eq chests and their hearts, donating newbie style equiptment to enhance my
contest to the next level. And by the number of players that have donated to
the cause so far, this has been a great success. I see players actually (more
than usual) makeing time to pull a few newbies into simple parties to help
them gain the ways of this great Mud.
In my opinion in this time ofr 3-D games that we have all played, there
is nothing better than coming back into this Great Mud to continue playing.
After playing here for over 12 years i have a great passion to help to see
that this game stays popular, and is always fresh with new ideas and a awesome
group of men and women that write, fix, code and gruel to keep Bat here and
strong.
I have been diagnosed with Cancer and my play here may be comming to an
end, but until i take my last breath, if i have the strength to play, ill be
here raising the hell i always have. Saying all that Thanks to you all for
playing this game hateing me or likeing me, it doesn't really matter in a game
of nothing its all good..
I hope in the future Bat stays alive, and carries on for along time. And
i know on April 14th there are going to be many smiles on a bunch of newbie
faces as they see what the people of this game were able to provide to help
promote and pay it forward in a game that they must all enjoy themselves. I
want to Thank all the players that went from just players of a game, to Great
players in a game by paying it forward this year by donating gold, ships,
chests, eqs and all the frills to make the future gamebase of this Mud feel
welcome like never before.
I will post a final list of all that donated after i have awarded all the
prizes to the list of winning entries. Again thanks to you all, and to all you
wizzies, kudos to you all, keep up the great work!
