Experienced jewelers who happen to be alchemists now get improved results from
moulding rings, in the following way:
-- they get better results from gems of mid-range quality. They still can't
get "tiny" or "chipped" results to be outstanding, but the middle-ground cuts
will have enhanced value.
-- the stat bonus will be more based on the cut than the material. A HUGE rose
quartz will contribute closer to the value of a HUGE diamond, for example.

This still won't let you get good results from crap materials, but it will
give better results with above-average materials. Those without jewelry skills
will see no change at all.
