I know we're not entitled to hear what the administration thinks about
everything that goes on behind the curtains.

However, it would be interesting to hear what the take is on the current state
of exptuner(s) (global and personal) and how well, from the admins point of
view, they're working atm. Is the administration on par with the playerbase
that generally thinks the system in place today is not working well?

Dear demonspråkee,

please give concrete examples on 'what is not working' and the perceived
impact of said problems.

It makes it easier for us to react if necessary. Generic comments on things
don't usually result in actions.

Dear Ugric Tribe Chief 3-dehydro-L-gulonate-6-phosphate decarboxylase,

Thank you for your response, as well as Juggelo's. I had intended to give some
more data to what exactly isn't "working" - but before spending more time and
effort on said research, I wanted to see the administrations general input on
the matter. Juggelo gave some good insight so I will return in due time with
more concrete examples as to what exactly isn't working :)

Med vänliga hälsningar (på demonspråk)
Meri

First of all; thanks to Ulath and mainly Juggelo for clarifying and explaining
how the tuners work and spending time on putting our minds at ease with
information from the administration. I would say that most of it is more or
less common knowledge but it might have enlightened a few people. Nonetheless,
many thanks for the clarifications and taking the time to respond to our
concerns!

I've also talked to a few people regarding the "issue" at hand and there seems
to be a general opinion that it is just that, an issue.

As a general response to having two tuners (personal and global), I personally
think it's great way to encourage exploring and learning more areas, just like
Juggelo said.

However, the issue summed up into one sentence is that the balance between the
personal and global tuner seems off. The global tuner simply seems to weigh in
too much, compared to the personal.

Ulath also replied to my flamepost and asked me to be more specific, and I
promised to try and follow up with some cold hard (specific) facts.

Without knowing the exact numbers behind HOW these two tuners work in unison,
it's difficult to say anything about exactly how much off the balance is, and
a bunch of questions arises such as "if I kill monster X with players A, B and
C, where A and B has raped the mob 10 times the past 5 days, will the expworth
for player C be effected by A and B's previous raping, being a part of the
same party".

So what I did was considered and killed a few mobs (mostly in a party, but a
few solo as well) that I or my fellow party-people had NOT killed within the
last few (2+) days. These are the results that I got;

Mob: Sesmar IV, the king of the valley
Consider message: average exp
Expworth: 26913

Mob: a mindless wyrmwood treant named LimbSnap
Consider message: some experience
Expworth: 32694

Mob: an ancient, stout treant named WilloWheel
Consider message: some experience
Expworth: 30404

Mob: A small guard of Brantis
Consider message: some experience
Expworth: 6841

...continued

Ccontinued from previous post...

Mob: A red dragon is not looking happy
Consider messsage: average exp
Expworth: 90563

I repeat, these are actual expworths of mobs that me nor my partymembers had
killed the recent days. The conclusion I make out of this is that the expworth
is severly dowtuned due to the global tuner, to the extent of 50-80% less exp,
and that feels really harsh to say the least. Maybe there could be a cap of
HOW much dowtuned the expworth should be due to global tuner or something?

I'd be interesting to hear the administrations take on the balance and these
numbers.

Just to add a second opinion from the peanut gallery, Merioli is 100% spot on.

For an example, an area that came out relatively recently was vendace shore.
For a while not many people went there, and for some number of months I was
able to get maybe 400k from cleaning out the area maybe once a day, and the
rate was pretty steady. That is a pretty decent rate for me soloing, but not
obscene. Since then, presumably the area has become more popular since now I
would say on average I get half that, and often much less. I can check logs
for exact numbers if it is important. No matter how often I avoid the area,
the rate never really changes all that much. That is not a good rate at all,
and honestly *very* demotivating.

Another example is inside the gnome barracks in two towers. That is a cash
area, so a little different situation but it still illustrates the point.
Before it became super popular you could get a decent amount of cash and the
mobs were worth about 30-40k each, and I would clean it a few times a week.
Then a few people started raping it and now the mobs are often ~5k, even if I
only do the area once a month.

I guess the whole point of this is, could it be changed so that the personal
tuner is perhaps more strong, but it could override the global tuner somewhat
more and lighten up the global tune? That would make popular areas still worth
doing for players who only go there infrequently, and lessen the effect of a
small group of players can have on "ruining" an area.

Just wanted to add a bit more data to this discussion. Seemed like tune was
harsh. Thought to myself "Hey self maybe you are killing mobs that are shit
tune. Try considering something."

You are prepared to do the skill.
You take a close look at Guard in comparison to yourself.
Level-wise, you have a slight disadvantage.
For damage absorption, HAH! Read your prayers!
In the power department, you ARE MAD.
Defensively, HAH! Read your prayers!
You would get well above average experience for Guard.
The final estimation is that Guard looks quite skilled, beware.

Well it said it was well above average experience for Guard, but damn feels
low.

Checked logs for last times I've killed the same mob.

Did not check exp worth in party kills.

Really seems like that is well below average exp, but that means consider lied
to me....

Also logs confirm what I already knew in that I rarely visit the area.
Something seems off with this scenario.

I agree with how it's set up in general. I just think it's weighted poorly...
