Sabres contribute nothign to a party.
Their one trick is cadence, which is limited by need to use a shield.
Monks recently got a passive shield ability to give them a shield effect.
I'd like to propose the sabre rep system of doing event mobs allows you to
train a 'dual wielding' skill , where each % increased your effective critical
resistance (ie, shield effect), where long term sabres can effectively tank as
effectively as if wielding a shield.
The benefits are easy, no new rep system needed, can copy the code from monks
for the shield effect (iron body i think), and just tie it to the rep for max
trainable.
I know very little about sabres, but maybe give them some kind of shielding
ability if using a parrying dagger in off-hand (main gauche, sai, dagger). It
would be very thematic and would give new opportunies for itemization - few if
any useful main gauches or sais in the game atm, I think.

If you are fencing, you do have some defensive choises allready.
