I have attempted to collect my thoughts about the latest barrage (and yes, its
been a barrage) of tunes long enough to form some sort of conclusion about
them. Over the past few days I have been reading the some 25-30 posts
displaying some tune or another and all the replies to it. I have come to the
conclusion that while we have to sit and take it, as it is a free game and we
the players do not have a say in its direction, I would like to vocalize my
opinion on the matter. Now, I know that some(or most) will say "boohoo
nomiculious is a whiny girl" and such comments, but I have loved, and continue
to love this game that I have spent much time playing, money supporting(not
without some self motivated reasoning) and lost many relationships I could
have enhanced by playing this game. And until this point, I have only a few
things I would have changed about the past.
Now, I understand that the admins technically could give two shits about the
mortals and make large changes in the best interest of the entire game, and I
promote that. But, these last tunes, especially the removal of rounds and the
addition of weapon speed, have changed much about the way that this game
works. There are other MUDs that follow the round-time principal(aka battle
speed or weapon speed), and I have played several, all of which I left to play
this, and stayed with this. So why the change? Are round based systems wrong?
Old? IIvil? No, they are just different. And those differences are fundamental
characteristics of this game. Why then do we need to change them? Of these I
can only thing of a few responses. One: A wizard believes its better this
way. Two: We lack active players and need to "spice shit up" to attract HOT
new MUDCHICKS. or Three: The old system was broken and this was the next best
alternative.

I guess all I'm saying is that, Two weeks ago (has it been that long?) I loved
this game, and played it non-stop. And now, I have hardly an interest.
Everyday I come in to see that the work that I have done for the past years
has been reduced in some way (read as: level costs, race tunes, battle system
tunes, weapon speed tunes, stun tunes, boon tunes, etc etc.) most of which I'm
fine about, some I am not. I thought the goal was to encourage players to
become active, and find new players and make it interesting and fun for those
"newbies." With your latest slew of tunes, I can almost gaurantee that
lowbies and midbies are the most hit. Whatever, my attempt at a thought-out
dialogue has turned into a ranting mess. I guess I am going on record to say
that: In my opinion, your tunes to weapon-speed, battle damage, and stun
s_u_c_k_s. I hope that I am free to say that. I'll see you all after I get
married. Hopefully this mess has stabilized by then.

Nomi said that newbies are and lowbies are most affected by this tune but I
disagree. Newbies and lowbies have had their ability to kill monsters
downgraded the most, yes, but the expa they get per mob has been doubled
because none of them will do 300k per day. So for just plain expa advancement
they are the same or better than before. For eq mob killing matters not rate
so lowbies will have their eq making capacity lowered. I don't think that
really effects any of them. So really if you look at this set of tunes as a
whole low to mid tier players are in the same if not better place than before
and higher players have a little harder time killing the same mobs they killed
before with the same tactics. But highbies should be able to adjust eq and
reincs to fit the current tune whatever it is so I doubt that this is an
across the board downtune like you say, but rather a shift to a new play
style. I for one think that is more likely to keep old players than not.
