I'm not changing anything about armour based on a Euro-centric view of armour
and weapons. BatMUD's military supply is multicultural in the broadest
possible sense, and I'm not talking about the English longbow, the Swiss
halberd, the Turkish scimitar and the Japanese katana used by random monsters
int he same room. I'm referring to the lizardmen, dwarves, orcs,, and titans
-- and about 30 others -- each of whom probably have their own unique
contributions to the arsenal and look for something different in armour as
well. Add to that the material system we got going. Try to find a historical
context for iron robes, nickel haidate, or cobalt shuriken. The best armours
merchants can make use materials we don't even have in real life.
We're not a historical drama. We're a fantasy game. If a hero leaps into
battle with a breastplate, a crown, a couple of armbands and leather boots,
he's free to do so, and he probably will if this cobbled-together scraps of
armour give +30% physress and +10% to "yo momma so fat" jokes. BatMUD
minmaxers are very "the ends justify the means" and bless them for it.
Shinarae Llluminus
Oh, because I can't resist -- the primary purpose of the spear was hunting
food for about 20,000 years before the horse was domesticated.
