I truly hate the situation that 'THE BEST' phase of the game gets skipped too
fast with this explore exp.

If you wish to keep it - make it so that only chars with +50 megs get explore
exp and if they have for example explored 99.9% of the game they get all that
in one chunk as they hit 50megs.

And no, I'm not skipping my newbieness with it, only explored 36% and it has
came from necessary rooms :)

I really doubt a true newbie skips the best part of the game with explore.
Maybe explore xp should only be available for non-rebirthers, as it's just a
freebie for rebirthers as they've explored in their previous births. Although
I couldn't really find the 'idea' in Cilwand's post, mine is: don't reset
explore when people rebirth. But on the other hand, I don't care as it doesn't
affect my gaming experience, so maybe don't change explore at all.

You're flat out wrong.
Newbies bolt through levels 1->45 the hardest levels to make
No one "rapes the mines" anymore because its incredibly easy
to make exp/cash without staying under 30 to take advantage
of the mines anymore. Thats just one example

When I started playing on this char (I had previous chars) it took
me one _month_ to make 1m exp and thats WITH game experience
You sit at church tower for an hour to make 10k, those
were the good old days

We'd need some statistics from an (arch)wizard to prove who's right or wrong.
Ofcourse it's nowadays easier to get xp then in the old days, and explore xp
is one of the reasons for it. It was also way different how you'd spent your
experience (racial skill/spell max, 229k skill points etc.).

So sure, maybe making lvl 50 a constraint for getting explore xp sounds good,
but then you'll see people raping 1 area until they get to 50 so they can get
maximum explore xp then?

HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH *cough gag spit*

Mm-hmm. Sorry. Ok, about exploring. At this time, explore exp is broken down
into three chunks:
-- what you get when you first start the game. You're a level 1 nobody with no
friends, no money, no eq, no combat ability, and know nothing that's going on
(kinda like Thematr^H^H^H^H^H^H^H nah, too easy). So you cautiously step out
into the world, reading the room descs, and being careful not to get in
trouble. You actually pay attention. This phase lasts until you are able to
fight on your own.
-- the second phase is what happens when you're newbie-lowbie and can actually
start functioning as a party member. I call this phase the "drag phase". You
start to get going for things like cash, eq, and exp, usually quickly (the
term "rate" enters your vocabulary). YOu hit a few new areas, but don't
exactly stop to smell the roses. This phase lasts for quite some time.
-- the final phase is when you deliberately make explore runs, sometimes solo,
but more often with some firepower to back you up because explore is dangerous
("Hey! Four ? in a diamond shape! I wonder what's in heaaaaururgbhghg"). Once
again, you're being cautious because evil bastard wizards love to have secret
doors and hidden passages, sometimes just for E% alone.

So here's the funny part: let's look in on mortals Bob and Steve in a party.
Bob is leading.
Bob [party]: ok damn, this door wasn't locked this time
Steve [party]: so where's the key?
Bob [party]: uh...one of the monsters has it, I'm pretty sure I got it from an
autoloot trigger last time
Steve [party]: ok, which monster?
Bob [party]: uh...
Steve [party]: some of these monsters have guards and look pretty tough, I
don't think we can just go around randomly killing things
Bob [party]: I might have to check my logs on this one...
Steve [party]: I thought you said you'd been here before!
Bob [party]: I was! I was...
(bom bom BOM!)
Bob [party}: ...dragged!

Phase 2 of player's explore is what causes this problem. Explore experience
might be small at first, and going for explore might cost you rate, cash, exp,
etc. for a while...but then you'll be able to solo/party just about anywhere
your level allows without any major difficulties as described above. Think of
it as going to school. Compare the jobs of people who get through high school
or college to those who don't. In most cases, those who took time to learn
about what they're doing have a better situation in later life.

Explore exp is a thinly-veiled attempt to get players to explore the world
around them so they know what the hell they're doing. But if you insist on
getting that exp by being dragged, and/or not actually looking into the
secrets in the areas you can actually get to (you might find something really
helpful, cough cough newbie mines)...well you can figure what comes next.

We must have very different views on what constitutes
'THE BEST' part of the game.

I atleast would find it much cooler to explore new things,
and complete quests for exp (a thing which we are sadly missing :(
instead of farming exp by killing the same mobs over and over
again.
