I dont know about everyone else, but I like comepleting quests here.
I think the reason that quests don't give much of a bonus really is because
the quests can be raped over and over again.
Perhaps uptuning what quests give as a bonus, be it money, exp, eq, titles,
whatever, and then making it so that people can only do quests once.
This isn't saying if it is a party quest, that the players who allready have
the quest cannot participate. They would just not be able to 'be the one
who gets the quest.'
IMO, quests are one of the best parts of the game, and they are the most
overlooked by players.
More solo quests would also be nice, as not the majority, but a good chunk
of quests seem to be very party oriented and involve killing 800k+ mobs.
Why not make quest work into the level requirement. INstead of get halff off
for that level wby completeing the quest. Mkae it so you have to actually do
the quests for that lvel. If level has more than one quest you must do all the
quest to get that level. You can't advance with out completing the quest. You
can make some quest party and some solo. Helping solve a solo quest would be
forboden ofcourse. BTW forgive my spelling error typing with 6 hors sleep in 4
days.
The reason why quests are not required for levels (with one exception) is
because we do not want to mandate a certain style of play. Sure, there are
lots of things we do to 'encourage' styles of play (cough cough eq names), but
we don't really want to interfere with what someone thinks is fun (unless it
interferes with other players, of course, but that's not the issue). Lots of
minmaxers exist who want the most cash, the best rate, the l33t1st eq, etc,
and these gaming styles do not, as a general rule, require quest solutions. If
that floats your boat, I say go with it.
The currently existing LQ system is a payoff that encourages quest solutions
to help advancement -- some work better than others, of course. Area quests
have their own rewards (right?) in addition to encouraging E% (and you all
know how fond I am of E%). Guild quests are a different story, but once you
sign up for a guild that has mandatory quests (e.g. merchant) you know what
you're getting into, and your style of play has already been narrrowed down
(not a lot of eq-making merchants these days). However, none of these are
mandatory. If you want to go straight quest-less tarmie, and you have the time
and effort requird to do so, I say go for it. I think you're wasting exp, but
I don't think it should be impossible or illegal.
