Global rape prots have no benefit to this game whatsoever. Having been around
for a while and seen both sides of the coin, I find it absolutely unfair for
any player to be denied the opportunity to advance himself simply because
another player (whom the first player may not even know) performed the act or
killed the same monster the previous day/week/month, whatever the time frame
may be. Global rape prots give an almost insurmountable advantage to those
"in the loop" because they know exactly when they can go and tear said monster
a new asshole, thus shutting everyone else out again. If you don't agree or
understand my reasoning, consider the following examples:

Stifsim. This monster will never, ever be killed unless it is wearing frost
medallion. It takes a very powerful party to put this monster down because
its global "anger" prot will never again reach its "weakest" level. After a
couple months (or less if you have real balls) top highbie players repeatedly
'check' stifsim for its best piece of eq and it is killed as such. I can't
even say for certain but I bet the mob is considerably easier if it isnt
"angry", perhaps even killable by a lower level party who might actually have
use for the other items the legendary ice dragon occasionally wears.

Trilloch, Vault, and Zoo. I've killed Trilloch 4 times and raided his vault
more times than I can count. Raid his vault and nobody else can for 3 or 4
days. Do it often? Extra explosives blow up the loot. Bust up his tower?
Two weeks to repair it. But, for doing exp at the Zoo more than most mortals,
I have never EVER, NEVER EVER, gotten a decent piece of eq from the area.
Someone even tried to explain to me its global/personal rape prot and it makes
no sense. Zoo global prot works such that you can't even learn the proper
syntaxes to attempt a raid when someone else has done it recently. Smash
north wall? Typo message. Try it the next day? You might see something
along the lines of: You smash the north wall with with your shoulder revealing
a secret treasure room! Or probably just another typo message.

I'm sure there are other monsters out there with equally ridiculous
circumstances (Alysia anyone?). I for one would like a administrative
response on why players are denied opportunities to advance themselves, and in
some situations, not even given the chance to learn what to do differently the
next time. Penalize or deter the people that take advantage of a situation
over and over again. Not everyone else.
