Here\'s an idea for the true highbies of BatMUD: The next step of evolution for
mortals - Highbirthing.
No longer reincing or rebirthing. Rebirth nowadays is quite usual and no
longer \'fresh\' idea to start it all over again. We have a lot of level ~100
reborn characters in the game and something needs to be done.
The answer would be a new race called \'Highborn\'. After you Highbirth, you
would lose all possibilites to reinc to an another race other than Highborn.
No longer a typical mortal, Highborned Ones should be something greater,
almost divine beings amongst the mortal population of BatMUD.
Highborn characters should have something special of course: They would have
fully modable stats. No longer basic stats, Highborn as a race would be
anything player chooses to be. So they would have great choice over advancing
their stats to what they wish to have. Highborns could have more special
abilities, extra amount of guild levels to be chosen or something like that.
Nothing overly powerful tho.
But there would also be a drawback (surprise!) for Highbirthers: They would
gain experience in a different way. This would not be reflected by typical
experience rate. For each kill that would reward Highborn, it needs to be of
certain amount relevant to character level. For example, a level 20 Highborn
should get full experience from any monster kill worth 3k or more, but level
50 Highborn has to kill 15k or higher monsters to get any exp from kills. And
if in a party, this amount would be multiplied by the amount of party members
of course. This would add more challenge for these \'very experienced
players\'. They really should go and hunt bigger monsters in order to gain
more power.
In order to be a Highborn, character would have to be eternal (rebirth 3
times) and have a minium of 1 gig of experience on the top of that. There
could also be other requirements too, minium explore% and number of quests
done. Once Highborn, player could re-highbirth again, but Highborn is the only
race option for them.
This is just a preview of the whole idea but hopefully you got the point. As a
final note, yes, Im not in the target audience for this idea, but I think there
are a lot of players who would look forward for something like this. Although I
know there are ppl out there who think this would only be another way to gain
serious amount of power. But it could be made so it would be more like a
challenge.
