Ok, all this talk about changing boots, not chaging boots, etc. If we keep
boots the same, would it be possible to make rape prots be for example 2 weeks
and 3 hours or such? So that the item isn't de-protted right at boot?

First of all, there are different forms of "prot" out there. I will speak
about the one I coded because I think it's the most common.

The way the code exists, most monsters have a prot set for a certain number of
days. (That's not mandatory, but it's the easiest to do). Days, however, means
24 hours, 0 mins, and 0 seconds. So, for example, let's say at 14:00 a group
comes through and kills a protted monster that has a 1-week prot. It takes 1
hour to lkill it. Then, they come back in one week at 14:00 again. The monster
is still protted, and they can't do it that boot at all. Or, they could have
come at 15:00 and killed it -- pushing its time back an hour later into the
day. This would continue until they missed it once (resetting its "time of
day" clock) or push it back till reboot. So the time is going to migrate
around anyhow.

This is particularly the case with personal prots, since the first group can
see the monster and leave, letting a second group come in and kill it. General
prots don't work that way quite as well, but I am of the opinion that general
prot should be used more sparingly anyhow.
