I don't know if this has been suggested before, maybe it has,
but a quick news search didn't find any relevant articles.

I would like to be able to exactly refer to some piece of eq with
my command-aliases and macros, but it is quite hard nowadays. Here's
two examples.
a little leather bag labeled as foo: I can refer to it with
"leather bag" or "little bag" or "foo", but not with eg.
"little leather bag" or "a little leather bag labeled as foo".
black shadowy cape: "shadowy cape" works, but not
"black shadowy cape".

Could you let all eq to be handled also with the exact copy&paste
of it's short desc, such as this "black shadowy cape"?
Some handles that are more complicated than just a "cape", are
sometimes hard to figure out, and they still might overlap with
unpredictable objects ("leather bag" refers also to money pouches
from mobs and reagents). Real eq usually has so complicated
short descs that they wouldn't overlap with any unwanted items.
You might say that it's the eq coder's job to think of the proper
handles for the eq. However this problem occurs with quite a number of
different eq, so this kind of general solution might be good.

Could also label handling be improved so that the labeling could
be used in combination with all the other handles the eq has?
It would be nice to be able to refer that leather bag with also
"bag labeled as foo" or "leather bag labeled as foo", or with any
other similar combinations.

A simple ID spell should give you all the available labels for a given item.
Perhaps you should just cough up the 2k to have it identified. The change you
suggest detracts from the usefulness of merchants, as well as player
interaction on the mud.

My two mowgles.

For the record, a "standard" item will do this. Also, for the record, you will
need to use the a/an/the and leave off the (glowing) etc. The code that I have
reviewed and the examples I tested agree on this issue. So if you want to use
the c&p description, you _have_ to use the whole thing. Some coders (I like to
think of myself as one, but don't mudquote me on this) try to keep this in
mind when adding the "handles" to items, and would add "little leather bag" so
such a thing. Evidently, whoever made that particular eq assumed that "bag"
would do the job most times. Send a typo or idea report to the coder of the eq
in question if you have a handle you'd like to add. If that coder is inactive,
hopefully, another wiz will catch it (like bug reports, there are some
automatic re-directs to allow wizards to take over abandoned areas).
