Would it be possible to change the good old "Blablah is DEAD, R.I.P." to say
"You cackle with glee as Blablah dies by the hands of you(r party)" or
whatever message which reflects that you're the "owner" of Blablah's corpse?

Or better yet, if you really want to be nice about it, make corpses handlable
only by people with their name on it (and name of party being decided by doing
most of damage, say, not killing blow).

That would end stupid corpse chase events, and also eliminate this whole \'is
that idle robot? is it not robot? is it not idle? who cares?\' discussion.

Or better yet, just make someone else\'s corpse looting illegal and banish half
the mud next time mcdemons/robin is run.
