Ok. Here's my problem. Since LQ47 was added, a lot of tough overworld
monsters have been added (i.e. too tough for someone level 46 to kill.) This
has multiple effects:
1. A smaller percentage of the monsters Livingstone asks for are achievable
2. The unachievable monsters stay longer than the achievable ones, which makes
this doubly bad
3. The easy monsters are grabbed more quickly, leaving only the hard or
impossible ones
4. It takes longer to find a given monster because there are more types out
there
All in all, this makes it excruciatingly hard to get hunt points. I'm not
usually one to whine -- about quests anyway -- but this has gotten ridiculous.
Could we at least have a slight tune of livingstone towards requesting easier
monsters, and/or perhaps giving us longer to find the easy monsters while
getting the hard monsters off the list a bit sooner? If the harder monsters
actually take that long for even highbies to kill, could we maybe have
bounties on more monsters at once?
--PsyMar, feeling whiny

P.S. Can we add a "whines" group for posts like this one?

I think that this problem will be solved by having Livingstone request more
monsters simulateously; instead of asking for merely three mobs, have him
ask for seven. That should prevent it from getting too clogged, I think.

I was thinking the same thing, but with dynamic list.
1 +mortal users/50 (rounding down) = number of simultaneous requests

Or with a timed funktion.

for every X minutes passed by without anyone completing the search, a new
creature would be added to the list.
X could be number of players online, players/2, temperature outside, age of the
wizard who coded the damn thing, number of people done the LQ, number of
pairless socks the player has in his/her closet or the rating of this post.

Or the creatures value could build up over time.

Requests value vwould start from zero and for every minute the creatures point
value would increase by one. If on returning the request there would be less
than (mortal users/10) creatures on request, one more would be added to the
request list.

I like the last one as greed is good regulator.

A :-D hits you.

You tell Livingstone 'So what do you think about these mortals and their idea
about adding more easy targets?'

Livingstone tells you 'More easy targets? What am I supposed to do with two
hundred dead squirrels!? No, I say, no. The market's a lot better with the
bigger things, do you know what men pay for blue whale testicle extract? Think
about that next time you even pretend to listen to whiny mortals.'

Long story short, no more targets, unless our online playerbase suddenly gets
to constant 400+. The quest can be done solo, but it is very slow and tedious
work. Get a party and get it done in a more reasonable time.

Message received, loud and clear. I appreciate the explanation from the man
himself, too. I've got 117 points now -- not all chipmunks, either, mind you
-- and I should have the quest by wednesday at the latest.
One idea that might work for everyone, though: Maybe raise the rewards
slightly for the high-end monsters, so highbies will clear them out (getting
stuff), Livingstone gets rare specimens, and the spots are cleared out to make
way for more monsters (of all difficulties) which benefits all hunters? Or
else make hunt points somehow helpful for people beyond 150, at least? I'm
thinking this might work as another Ranger guild quest, but I'm not a nomad so
that's not my expertise.

I really appreciate getting actual feedback, though.

It took me a while, and a few bribes to find people to kill some of those
drakes, but at lvl 46 I get this one done. At the time I wished it had been
easier, but all thngs considered, it is pretty easy. There is no problem
solving here, it is pretty much a brute force quest.
