With your bulging muscles you are so much more observant of the
surroundings? I do agree that strength and dexterity might help you break out
of an ambush faster though, but not avoid it totally.
High intelligence, dexterity, wisdom and small size already help you avoid
ambushes (without skill), and out of all stats the best fit for alertness
skill
(keen senses, awareness) is indeed intelligence, followed by dexterity.
Even more important would be your senses, which I think can be all bundled
up with your races vision. Best would be if the vision attribute of races was
changed into \'senses\' (Elves have acute hearing, eyesight etc.. but having
racial attributes for each sense would be needlessly complicated).
This would also prompt a change in the spell \'Enhance vision\' which is
pretty
much useless at the moment, the people who want to see further in outworld
(and you don\'t need to see further in batcity..) use a clairvoyance staff
anyway,
or just check Twomi\'s maps. Change it to \'Enhance senses\' and with a long
enough duration you might even ask for someone to relocate and cast it on
you.
Leadership skill helps you (and your partymembers) avoid ambushes, and the
affecting stat of that is charisma. You are so damn gorgeous the monsters
just
can\'t ambush you. The charisma part is nice for informing others they are
about to run into ambush though. Not every affecting stat has to make sense
in
every situation though so my main point of this post is really only to make
the
vision/sense attribute an available option for stats affecting a skill.
Enhanced
peer has dex as its affecting stat for example.
I also ask any of you wizards designing new areas to incorporate this
vision/sneses attribute somehow in room descriptions. Races with good
vision/senses could see/hear more details and such. Big races also might
see different things from small races. That\'s quite a lot of work though but
would be great.
