How about 'look at rocks' or something similar giving a message like 'They
seem very hot.' or 'They seem extremely hot.' etc. depending on setting?

HAhahahahahahahahahahahah. (RAUTAVARSI Strikes Again) :D. just put
thermometer, we don't wish to guess how hot it is by looking at rocks, how the
fuck do rocks look hot? They melt? Red hot? Rocks in the day are 200 F here in
the desert and at night below freezing, yet they look the same.

Wow, I can't believe people are still discussing this. You can already "heat
up" to turn the heat up by 5 degrees, and "la thermometer" to see how hot it
is now. I was simply suggesting that it could be made a bit easier. I'll
just make a command to do it :P

Ok, so maybe I just haven't ever been looking carefully enough, but in my
experience stones don't really look any different depending on how hot they
are.
That is, untill they get insanely hot and start melting and stuff, but that's
hardly an issue in your regular sauna.

But perhaps you could 'sit on stove' and amount of hp lost could give some
indication on how hot exactly it is?

You adjust the heat on a woodburning stove by adjusting the air flow into the
combustion chamber. It's quite natural.
