ps *can camp*
It would be cool if someone with the skill pathfinding actually could blaze a
trail if they and others followed the same routeoften. A path would, once
established, allow others who walk the same route who don't have pathfinding
to save some ep's(not a lot, it's still not a road). A path may or may not
show up on the world map(probably not) but could possibly show up in the room
desc(exits are nw,n,ne,e There is a path going to the se). To keep it in
check, maybe only count two trips per person w/skill per boot.

I don't know how many trips it would take to make a path, but for the sake of
keeping it from being taken advantage of, i imagine a lot.
The path would also act as a magnet for ambushes(makes sense) from mobs, since
it's an area of higher activity and they're more likely to feed. Maybe a new
mob like bandit could be made for such a thing.

Ages ago, Duke (i think?) posted a pic of batmap with varying colors for how
many people walk across the outerworld and where...would be awesome if there
were some way to have people's passage cause a long-term affect on the map
such that paths will eventually appear, and perhaps even turn into roads
someday. I think they turned off that tracking code due to lag though...

Batmud has had several hardware upgrades since then so I think it might be
able to handle it. I do think though it might not be a bad idea to sift
through old players and do a purge of the ones not being used as I can imagine
its taking up quite a lot of space.

Sometimes it has nearly nothing to do with hardware, yes it helps overall, but
this game does run quite slow as it is, slower than it... "should" but that's
simply because this game is over a decade of game code from dozens of coders,
on a game driver that is ancient and really won't be rewritten, so some things
are unavoidable, inherent problems/shortcomings, lots of patches/fixes, etc.

It wasn't lag, and that ideas has been considered once. Although that would
need road decaying code as well, and it's a bit hard to predict. Noone
prohibits you from walking whole day from your house to your favourite rape
area for 3 days in a row just to get a road there.

I, for one, considered the idea cool, but I still haven't come up with a way
of controlling it properly without fucking the map up :)
