How about giving some animals the ability to not show on the outerworld map.
I think its dumb that mobs that have had centuries to develop predatory skill
and stuff, you can just see from a room away and go "oh its a lion" ill just
walk around it. Mobs (at least some) should have a natural form of hiding,
otherwise they wouldnt ever eat.
save
also make outworld monsters wander?
My reply to this shall be twofold.
Firstly, about animals not showing up on the outworld map: that would be
extremely easy to do. I'm not sure I want to do it for a large number of
animals, however, because I'd prefer to let players who are actually watching
where they are going to do better than players blindly running through. But it
is possible, just not something for every animal. Snakes, for example, might
like it.
Secondly, the reason outworld animals don't typically move has usually been
one of CPU. In one boot, there aer many, many animals, hundreds if not
thousands. If they just sit there, they don't eat a lot of CPU space. But if
they move, not only do they eat some CPU to move (individually not much, large
amounts en masse) but they also wander into and "load" rooms, which also eats
space. Granted, we have a new driver and should be able to handle this, and
maybe a few animals wandering (predators, perhaps) wouldn't be so bad. Someone
remind me about this in a few weeks until we're 100% sure the lag issues are
solved.
