The way our code is currently set up, simply dumping a guild into a background
won't help that much. For example, by my calculations, a lvl 80 ranger/druid
elf (yeah, I know, but bear with me) would have about 120 spell points on a
_really_ good day.
I don't think they'd consider losing 30 levels of crimson/barby to get a
one-shot gem fire every fifteen minutes. But, having not actually played HC
where such things are possible, I could be mistaken. Maybe a self eartpowering
ranger would be fun.

But giving mages anything other than the pathetic combat skills they have (I
think they get butterknife 30% or something) would almost be insulting. It
would tempt them to get into fights they don't have the stamina for. I suppose
it might help newbies, tho, so I'll check the guild out a bit. But don't
expect anything like the lavastorm-lightsaber or a lightningbolt-kick combo
attack. If you want to go that route, try civ guilds -- you can mix one tank
guild with one mage guild, and be a lot better than a front row mage (at
least, at combat).
