Now that you've tackled most of the big issues, could you please concentrate
on the smaller details. Like putting the 'map' command to work in Arelium,
finally? Pretty please? With a cherry on top?

Thank you,

What should 'map' do that 'look' doesn't do in Arelium?

not sure, but i guess it was about the command 'citymap detailed' or whatever
it was that we had in batcity, where you could see location of places.
or is there one already?

This place is reserved for something more intelligent.

Nothing, but think about it a bit. If you alias 'map' -> 'look',
it works fine. But go outside Arelium/another city -> your 'map' is
still 'look'. You'd have to change it every time you enter/leave Arelium

Maps for Arelium (and hopefully rilynttar soon) are available at your local
Guard.

Thank you. Now, can we have the 'map'-command to Arelium?
I don't want to 'read map' at Are, and 'map' everywhere else.
Why on earth does this have to be so difficult? It's probably
like 2-3 lines codewise, and it will not hurt anybody. Or atleast
give a good reason why we can't have that goddamn 'map' command
in arelium. Why?

Yes the "read map" is somewhat annoying. Added with running 80 rooms to bank
to withdraw money for the map and then finding a guard. Ok quite easy, but
STILL I agree with acd (and prolly many others) it should be a basic command.
Maybe after you've "read map" once you gain access to "map" in cities so you
kinda memorize it.

I talked with an arch, and finally got ignored. The bottomline is that
were fucked on that matter. They don't want us to have a command called
'map', because it's 'legacy' and should be removed alltogether in cities.
And seemingly other cities are converted to resemble Arelium and the
'map' command will be removed from there also.
They said its not to annoy us, its 'progress' or something like that.

So there you have it.

Jesus christ. I never thought I'd actually resort to flaming, but your
lies are just unbelievable.

The arch in question was me. I said that I don't personally understand
the need for a 'map' command that does the exact same thing as 'look'.
You proceeded to claim that "wizards wanting to fuck with players" was
the reasoning behind why it hadn't been coded. I tried to explain that
I hadn't coded it because to me a 'map' command that does exactly the
same as 'look' doesn't really add much value.

You then proceeded to demand that I code the 'map' command. I tried
to explain that I will not as I'm not actively coding anywhere. You
proceeded to flame my attitude, and claimed that I was just trying to
piss off players, even claiming that I have somekind of microsoft-
attitude. I had heard enough and ignored you.

I have never said anything that not implementing a command was progress.
Obviously if there is a real need for it, then it's not hard to code it.

If you continue to lie and misquote me, I will simply publish your
tells.

and besides, arches are always right. =) \'map\' or \'look\' makes no
difference to me just something else to get used to.

play nice,

It\'s just that people have been typing \'map\' in major cities for the last
~10 years. Now that it\'s disabled we keep getting the ridiculous \"You are
travelling in unmapped wilderness.\" message.

Maybe \'look\' could show a little smaller area of the map and \'map\' could
work like \'look\' works now. Walking with verbose mode on in Arelium spams
like hell at the moment.
