Could you please add a command similar to 'eq check', but
something that checks items on the ground and in your
inventory for their current cond, if applicable.

Implemented. Ages ago. (well, not the ground thing, that's
just silly). But you (still) can check items in your inventory,
and/or keep/nokeep.
