Remove destroy armour, destroy weapon and disintegrate spells altogether.
If necessary, replace them with an equally disheartening but less
destructive spell if unprepared. My suggestion is 'power immolate' which
chops some 2-3 conds off any eq regardless of any prots or other factors,
possibly with party effect.

My main reason is that I would like to make casual exploration possible --
checking the map and going to some unfamiliar areas closeby just for fun,
as a side project when exping. Yes, I can point it out for you: I want to
make playing this mud easier.

My situation now is that maybe I know the outline of some area, I've been
there in the past checking the rooms there, but now I would like to learn
the mobs for exp and visit the area more often. With possible and probable
desters waiting for me, I would have to go swap my normal set away and
switch to explore mode, and you can imagine what would happen if I had any
party members with me.

And why do I say probable? Well, Grandmother Amberley and Urvile
loremaster are pretty nasty mobs and who says they are not on an exp area?
These are well-documented cases but not everything is yet well-known.
I understand that there are cases where an area coder wants to protect
a certain mob. Grandmother Amberley is one such mob, vital to a quest.
Also, there are mobs where the entire tactics depend on the desting.
This is where "power immolate" would work and keep your precious sets
home or prevent you doing the mob on your normal exp runs. However,
if you encounter such a mob on your casual explore, you're left with
just a load of damaged stuff (if you keep your eq in some decent
condition), but with no big losses.

Also a tune where dests and disintegrates would be limited to 1m-ish
mobs where they really count, would support my suggestion, but this
would have to be enforced and brought to player knowledge somehow or
otherwise nothing would change. Without a proper full removal of
those spells there would always be a tiny chance which would damp
down at least my motivation of any sudden explore.

Please, don't tell me to get one of those fancy staves. Please don't
tell me to stop whining because I'm too lazy; I regularly learn new
areas. I'm suggesting a change on how anyone can play this game,
when areas are greater distance apart.

It is true that there are some monsters wandering around that dest or disint
ofr a reason nobody seems to understand.

It is also true that there are some eq monsters, and some quests, where the
hardest part is getting past the desting. Known desting guards/blockers/traps/e
q monsters require special attention and thought to prepare for. Further,
since the spells destroy weapon, destroy armour, and disint are not (I'll say
that again, not) randomly assigned, that means if a monster casts any of
those, the coder made it do so on purpose. Maybe you don't understand the
reason. Heck, maybe the current wizards don't understand the reason. But we
won't remove all desting from all monsters just because one person doesn't
like that one monster dests. It if far more realistic that we'd respond to
concerns about one monster at a time, than to remove all desting from all
monsters at once. I can pretty much guarantee you _won't_ see ths spells
removed.

Yeah, don't remove dest/disint spells...I'd be stuck with a bunch of useless
wands!

There's always an alternative, replace dest spells with reaver spells. But
then again, i don't care too much about dests or disints, i think those are
just fine.

Reaver spells have been specifically tuned to not insta-dest players eq. I'm
sure everyone here can imagine what would happen if that was not the case.
