Maybe give newbie helpers possibility to give a short channelban for mortal
characters acting unappropriately on newbie channel. Or not.

I strongly agree...I just wanted to clarify...I assume he meant only
channelbans from newbie channel. I haven't seen any signs of helpers abusing
things like purge, and it's somewhat distracting when we see some flamewars or
whatever on newbie channel when real newbies are left going "huh?"...with
visible logs of who did what when, I see it as very unlikely to be abused.
