why people who have time to play less should have some +exp for playing? its
up to yourself how much you spend time with this game and im sure people who
have job and hobbies and stuff have lot more fun than playing batmud. its own
choice if you want to spend 12h+ day for playing this. so wouldnt it be more
equal that there is no exp pool for rebirthers at all?
My own personal reason for why players with less time should have some
bonus exp (rate) has to do with the fact that the balance of this game
is not static.
Over the years, the exp/gold/eq etc distribution amoungst players has
changed. Players have gained more exp, monsters have been made tougher,
new challenges have been added, and new eq, often better eq, has appeared,
or become more widely available. At the same time, other tunes have also
occured, e.g. some eq has been removed.
If you stop playing for a while, a good few months or more, you will
find that you have probably fallen back, relative to the more active
Batmud players. Now, I don't think that there's anything wrong with
state of affairs.
However, by adding bonuses (for all players) that happen to be of
greated benefit to newer of less active players, the newer or less
active players will be able to keep up and be more involved more
easily.
Of course, some people wouldn't agree that allowing players to keep up
more eaily is a good thing but, I think that the alternative is that
the mud either becomes increasingly full of the oldest and most dedicated
players or that those older and more active players get left with less
and less to do (due to new material being aimed only at younger players).
Mind you, it is still possible to enjoy twiddling around in Batmud
without making an awful lot of progress if you have a fair number of
friends here that are willing to do the same.
