I would just want you to reconsider some ideas of an old flame mr. Nuane sent:
Quote:
Limit the amount of eq dested to 2 or so, or give some guild a spell
which has a chance to reveal the true ewylness of mob uhuhuu boohoo.
The spell is way too rough to exist in a mud like this in the year
2004, just because some wiz decided years ago that it would be neat
way to fuck up with players. It efficiently ruins exploring
experience, exploring naked is fucking boring.
It's year 2007 now, actually almost 2008, and I don't think we have had any
change on how this spell behaves. Couldn't we just get something a bit
softened. I think there was again a nice occasion that affects the gameplay of
atleast two players.

Dests aren't that bad but disintegrate can still effectively wipe away almost
every piece of equipment you're carrying. Yeah, there is a saving throw. So
what? Catching a disintegrate can be caused by some minor disturbance, say
your girlfriend asking you to check on her new dress or whatever, and leader
not checking if you're still wearing stuff or following the formation and
ta-da, there goes five years of playing, three sets of equipment and what not.

We've got gnomes that can recover our unchested stuff now, we can't reinc with
equipment on etc suffeli, but yeah, I'm asking for more.

Toss a vote or a reply, but don't start replying bullshit if you're already
just a retired idler.

Although my original post couple years ago was sent in a drunken rage,
accompanied with reasons led by fake disintegrates, this is still true.
Disintegrate, as it is, is a widely known spell by nearly all current players,
and there probably aren't many situations where an old players' equipment can
be sent to bit heaven by accident.

But as we all know, it can still happen. And now, when we stop thinking about
oldbies, how many of the "new midbies" actually realize how devastating
effects can this spell cause?

Let's say player A, a level 78 druidtarm created in 2003 joins a Morden party
led by a, although knowledgable but not necessarily experienced in game
mechanics level 90 leader, comes to a situation where the leader accidentally
leads you to battle with this notorious disintegrating monster? Well, it might
come to a surprise to all you oldbie leaders, but really, this lvl 78 healer
might not respond so fast to the fact he's in battle with Morden, and oh my,
what happens, disintegrate actually manages to hit him.

Now there, we have a midclass monster destroying ~80% eq from a midbie
person. That could be anything from couple megs from several dozens of megs
worth of stuff. Certainly many, many hours of work in any case. While I'm only
speaking of one monster, Morden, which is certainly an ancient mob and has
probably gone through series of facelifts, this is certainly not the only
possible occasion I could think of.

In my original post, my drunken proposion was that the maximum amount of
stuff disintegrated could be around 2 items (if i remember correctly), now
could this issue be finally looked into, for the sake of new explorers?
