The way that the travel command passes through rooms in brief mode and then

walk command which worked the same way.
My personal preference would be for the travel command to essentially work
like walk when not on a road, but do the brief bit through the interim rooms.
Though really, it doesn't much matter what the command is called.

I agree...the travel command should work like 'walk' when not on a road. Also,
add some other functionality to it: -t will let it consider trails as roads
and it'll stop at trail crossings, and/or follow trails.
Why would you need travel to work like walk when not on road? Just use walk?
And about the constant whine about trails, it's not gonna happen. Period.
(if you need more info on why trails are not included, see 'help archwizards
are always right')
Blasterr, you missed the key point of the request. If a player is in verbose
mode and uses the travel command, the interim rooms are displayed in brief
mode, then the final room is displayed in verbose mode. Compare this to the
walk command, which displays all rooms in verbose mode. Clearly, the walk
command works well and players would not want it to act like travel, going
into brief mode for interim rooms. On the other hand, the brief interim rooms
would be helpful in walk situations.
So, the request is for an extension to travel or perhaps a new command which
uses the same logic as walk to decide how many rooms to traverse, and uses the
same logic as travel to display interim rooms in brief mode and the final room
in verbose when the player is in verbose mode.
