1. Aelana is cool, but it is not a rogues guild in the way that many of the
players here are familiar with.

2. In order to have a rogues guild there would have to be some serious
changes. First, you would need to streamline the "trap" code and make all
areas consistent so a rogues finding/disarming traps would actually be useful.
Second you would have to implement "sneaking" in combat, which is something I
have NO idea how to do here in batmud. Third you have to have an appropriate
"flavor" things that rogues could do, such as intimidate NPCs, extortion,
pickpocketing coins from PCs, bag/floating disc trick (love that spell), and
other things that might make them useful and interesting as a real choice
here. Right now batmud is way way too "run and kill everything with a sword"
orientied. There is no real areas where you can use stealth to accomplish
your goals, which is too bad for those of us who love to play assassin/thief
type roles.

My 2 cents

While I agree with Blayke, the problem with stealth in this mud is as follows:

use 'funky skill that makes me sneak'
run_trigger_here_that_runs_through_all_areas_I_know_and_loots_all_stuff_I_can_g
et
Repeat

While I agree with Ulath, noone prohibits making some mobs detect stealthed
targets...

In order to be stealthy, one must move slowly and carefully. Attempting to
move too quickly would make noise and draw attention to oneself. Similarly,
one cannot gather up everything in sight without someone noticing. Getting
multiple items at once, getting individual items too quickly, or dropping
items all draw attention.
