I'm not a sailor. I have a class 2 that i've taken out maybe a dozen times.
Never been attacked. So I admit, off jump-street, that I know nothing of the
heartache/pleasure that ship-to-ship combat creates.
Acidia's idea of an extended safe zone for ships got me thinking about a
'batship crazy' way of making it work within the existing system.
Non-combative ships want a more secure area? Pay for it. So I pose a question
to the people that know more about this than I do...
Would donations to npc-guardships, solely for the purposes of a)extending the
safezone(to a certain limit) and b)upgrading that territories guardships(to a
limit) be feasible?
Isn't that kind of what merchant's did during the pirate days?
Like I said, I admit near-total ignorance on this matter, it just seems like a
way to keep the pvp system in place, keep merchant ships happy, and drain MORE
money from the game.

Class 2 ships won't get attacked due to the penalties. Attacking
a c2 with a c5/c6 just gets you in trouble more than pirate
points. I have a c5 (for the cargo holds, navi and tele) and
that is like a gleaming treasure to a packrat.

Aha, so you DONT need to be a gleaming target for pirates just to use
ships...you could get away with a class2 ship...but since you want all the
suffeli of the bigger one, you also feel the need to whine about the downside
too?

Ffs that's the whole point of having a ship. I don't mind paying the
few k for a safe passage with the tradelane ferries. The reason I
got the ship in the first place are the cargo holds. For moving
minerals from continent to continent.
That's why I wanted a non-combatant merchant-ship. class2 does not
hold any cargo. Get the idea?

Guess this goes to 'ideas-wanted' too..

I think Wizard stated alrdy some common opinion about this topic, idea has
been said on public and everyone knows the topic now. So please continue your
fight elsewhere. My idea is that you use this post-channel for ideas and
wanted things. (like one post / idea) C u

I have a Class 2 ship, and it's well, crapy, As in: If you want to go to
places a lot slower than walking you'll have fun, or if you want to travel
between continets a lot slower than a ferry.

So, people wanting ships class 3,4, or 5 is not - I wanna be super highbie.
They just want to be able to use the thing.
