I'm not sure I see the point of these items. Usually you don't get what you
need, and if you do, it dests in couple weeks. Why would someone add it to
their eq set? :P

I suggest making <christmas glow> stuff last for one real life year. Or at
least 365 hours unchested (which could theoretically last a year, if you only
play an hour a day).

How about it?

This coming from level 90 char. These were mainly ment for a fun
addition for the present system, not a way to get a top end item free
for a more or less permanent (year is a long time in a game) use. The
way they are implemented, they only come if you would otherwise be
getting a steel pants or an empty glass etc. It was coded as a fun way
to add some bonus for the players for christmas time, kind of like
the christmas exp bonus. That being said, no, I don't think they will
stay for a year, unless we downgrade the rewards, which dilutes the
fun for newbies.

Now, any fresh ideas probably get discarded right away, but if
somebody has some really great ideas for the next year, please
post them around November 2009, to see if somebody picks them up.
But, as the christmas glow items do not in any wya take away from
the presents, only add some (minor) content, I doubt they will
get removed either. Just my small amount of money or whatever.

If you don't like these items, just drop them? They don't decrease your
chances of getting something good without the glow. These are only given if
you would otherwise have gotten a 'tin belt' or other useless/generic stuff.
Even with the glow, its better than a generic item.
