Is Bat ry gonna react in some way to the upcoming Earth Hour event?
If not, i have a suggestion. Shutdown batmud for 1 hour when all the lights go
out! I think we'd save upto 5 cups of rice that can be dealt to those in need.
But still it would be a statement. And after all, oceans are made from little
streams.
Allright stupid idea but still. Think about it won't you Mr. Batmud ry?
Its on Saturday 28.3 from 20.30-21.30 Finland's TimeZone.

Yes, what a wonderful idea. Lets shutdown the machine, and one hour later,
drive there in our moderately sized hummvee and go boot it up again. I'm sure
that will save the environment!

I'd say that just by pressing the resetbutton on the machine, you waste more
electricity than the machine would actually use when idling for an hour.

These Earth Hour and other similar campaigns are great!

They make you feel all in-touch with Mother Earth and stuff and you become
a vital part in saving the globe. Nevermind what you do for the other 8759
hours per year, the fact that you switched off your lights and PC for 1 hour
is all that matters. Nevermind that the surge in power consumption to power
everything back on after that 1 hour will offset (if not surpass) any savings.

But its all good, the main point is that you feel good about it!
(Almost as important as those Hunger days where you had to eat your food
in school, that sure saved alot of starving people!)

Not to mention the high probability of some hardware not coming back
online after a cold start. Which happens, very often, when a server
has been running continuously for years.
