I have seen this quite a few times on channels:

Xxx [channel]: Crap, I forgot where I left my ship

Would it really be that out of tune to get like a 'sailor report' command
or so that allows your crew leader or navigator to tell you at least
which continent they are currently on? Maybe link it to navigator
level, so the higher level navigator you have, it can give more precise
information.
Such as level 1/2 navigator maybe cant tell much at all except
if they are over land or in deep sea, level 3/4 navigator can
tell if they are in northern, southern, eastern, or western waters
and rank 5/6 navigators can tell you which continent they are on
(or of course, all can tell deep sea or not). And maybe if you have
purchased the nifty map ability for your ship, and have maps
for the continent the ship is located, could give precise
coordinates.

Now I'm just posting this as a general public service, this has not
ever happened to me (well, except maybe that one time...) but anyway
would be handy to have.

I would like to see; if you have spent 2m+ whatever it is on a navigator or
make it another expensive addition dont care; is to beable to do sailor signal
and get your ship out of port. Also to do sailor signal and if you are on a
different continent, your ship will sail to the neariest tradelane waypoint
and then do the route on the tradelanes to the tradelane waypoint nearest to
you and then sails on to where u signaled.

e.g. ships to leave ports, and sail across continents (fairly efficiently)
sailor signals...

To the first, getting out of port is already in development, it is just
proving to be considerably trickier than I thought. I'm hoping to get the
kinks worked out in the next month or two. As for the second...an
intercontinental autopilot I'll have to put some thought into it. While not
entirely out of the question, if I did implement it, and I'm not saying I will
at this point, it would be an ability that would cost you more money in
addition to having a high-level navigator and would probably take 6 months or
so before I could get a reasonably functional version working.

This is already on my todo list, so stay tuned in the nearish future for this
to be implemented.
