I find it somewhat silly that every warrior in the realm is wielding two (or
more) really big weapons, usually the biggest and the best they can come by -
and often two pieces of the very same weapon... two serpentynes and so forth.
Making 2-handed wielding a viable option would be most awesome, at least for
heavy offtank guilds such as barbarian (just think about conan the barbarian
with two BatMUD-maces instead of his badass 2h sword for a change), but that
tune might be really difficult balancewise. However, a few really good
offensive skills should require wielding a weapon with two hands (vampiric
blow of the beloved old LoC guild comes to mind as a good even if dated
example).
I am not solely reaching for realism here, but if 2h wielding is not a viable
option it would make a great deal of sense to at least calculate the racial
ability to wield weapons for all hands together. What I am reaching for is
that it should be ok for a human to swing a serpentyne in one hand as long as
the weapon in the other hand was something like a spider dagger or a shield.
That tune would help out newbies a great deal as weapons they can come by are
usually pretty big (such as Haershin axe or Xormor) and it would open up a
completely new dimension for minmaxing for highbies with an opportunity to
choose from both top end big and small weapons.
Most of all, it would make a lot of sense not to let people wave around with
some gargantuan sized mauls in both of their hands. Try it once and see how
silly it really is.
