Some believe that the giants are stupid only because of their height. The
early giants were really tall and their heads would often rise above clouds
where the air is thinner and it's more difficult to think. Others believe that
the blood of giants would freeze in these same heights and blood would have
never reached the brain of the giant. One could ask a giant which of the
stories was true, but that is the kind of stupidity that might get you eaten
if the giant eventually understands the question.

The stupidity of the giants is legendary. Some minstrels sing songs about the
stupidity of the giants. According to the rhythmic melodies the early giants
were so stupid that only one of them ever knew how to create shoes, but he got
so excited about his success that he forgot this skill immediately afterwards.
The wondrous new invention caused the giants to clash with one another and the
early people believed that earthquakes were caused by giants wrestling for a
pair of shoes.

There are many tall tales told about giants. Some of them we know to be true
while some of them we believe are just legends that the bards and folklorists
have told people for their own amusement. Giants, together with dragons, are
some of the oldest creatures to ever walk the earth. Considering that a dragon
would rather prefer flying to walking, perhaps the giants then have the sole
distinction to be the oldest creatures to ever walk the earth even if they
made that journey without a single sole and never literally walked a mile in
their shoes.

Regardless of what tales are true and which are false, there are some legends
that we have recently learned and have proven to be true. Giants indeed may
walk with their heads in the clouds and are able to take mile long steps, with
or without their shoes. These are facts about giants and you shouldn't wrestle
the giants about them even if you were a strong-armed man. For when it comes
to giants even a strong-armed man has to acknowledge that what may be one
small step for a giant, it's one giant leap for mankind.

First of all, I'd like to thank Darol for this fabulous story about giants. It
may or may not offer hints about what this all is about. So, give a big
fing... err... hand to Darol the Archwizard!

Secondly, since Darol is in no way responsible for this giant piece of kludge,
you can send the bug reports about this thing to me.

Thirdly, I have my eye on cyclops (cyclopi, cyclopses, whatever) next, so if
you have good ideas, you know where to send them.
