Testing for the Harvest Event will run this weekend, looking for bugs and
balancing the numbers. Here's what's involved:
1) Most of the Event is based around pop-up group activities on various parts
of the overworld. These activities are designed to be far easier for groups
(not necessarily parties) than for individuals. Tasks needed for each activity
will vary, but, "kill the monsters that show up" will pretty much be a given.
2) Each activity will have a level of _activity_ completion and _personal_
completion. You should be able to monitor both to see where things stand. Yes,
I want to test that, too. Each activity will have different ways to get
completion, but again, "kill the monsters that show up" will be on the list.
As per my usual, large monster kills will be shared (i.e. personal completion
is based on putting in the required effort, not just the killing blow).
3) Each activity has a finite time limit. If it's completed in that time,
players with "major contributor" status will get better rewards and Harvest
Event points for buying the usual eq and other goodies at the end of the
Event. Minor awards will be given for players who don't hit that threshhold.
If the activity runs out of time or fails, "major" players will still get
something for their effort, but nobody gets points.
4) The Harvest Event is food-themed. This means, expect a fair amount of
master chef rewards. The ability to cook and/or eat should not be mandatory,
however.
If all goes well over the weekend, I'll set the Harvest Event to run
activities around the clock in the two weeks that follow (Monday the 3rd to
Sunday the 16th). I'll have more details about eq and the point system when I
know the activities themselves are working.
